Thanks to BlueAnt's Voice Isolation Technology, the Z9i provides outstanding noise suppression, echo cancellation and wind noise reduction. |
It comes with both large and small interchangeable ear gels, as well as two types of ear hook. |
The Z9i incorporates dual microphones allowing for BlueAnt's patented Voice Isolation Technology, a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) software solution that uses advanced techniques to separate the user's voice signal from all other sounds, enhancing and isolating all frequencies that affect voices coming into and out of the headset. This results in outstanding environmental noise reduction, echo cancellation and wind noise protection. You can choose between dual Voice Isolation modes: Standard for use in normal environments to remove mild background noise, and Max, which provides superior voice clarity for use in extremely noisy environments.
The BlueAnt Z9i works with Bluetooth version 2.0 and its multi-point technology allows you to connect simultaneously to two phones and answer the one that rings. The Z9i can now connect with up to five Bluetooth devices (instead of the Z9's three). Automatic reconnect also finds the last cell phone or device paired, and automatically reconnects.

Sony just announced that the iPod/Android hit Angry Birds is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PSP portable this month. It's unclear how the finger flicking will work since neither device has a touchscreen, but we can expect 60+ levels of Angry Birds.

Back in the '90s, folks went nuts for Riven, the highly-anticipated sequel to the graphic adventure Myst. Known more for its lush visuals than its gameplay, Riven showcased the power of the PCs and Macs of the time. Today the portable version hits the iPhone, iPod and iPad, and it seems to pack as much graphic punch as its original.

If rumors are right, Microsoft is nearly ready with a special version of Windows 7 that is able to run on ARM-based processors. This would improve Windows 7's scalability toward tablet based devices.
While competitors like Apple are scaling up their mobile OS for tablet use, Microsoft seems to have chosen the opposite path by converting their much heavier desktop OS. The benefit of such a move would be the amount of possibilities consumers will have with the established OS but the downside would be the amount of processing power needed as well as the lack of a good app distribution model. If this is true, it is likely Steve Ballmer will be presenting it during the CES.

It seems News Corp managed to find a new owner for it’s Fox Mobile Group. The Jesta Group has acquired the assets from news Corp. The news follows on a 15% staff reduction in November.
Fox Mobile will be renamed to Jesta Mobile holdings and will have headquarters in both Beverly Hills and Berlin. The financials behind the deal have not been disclosed as are the plans for the unit. Jesta has a lot of money but is relatively unknown in mobile. Could this be the start of something big?

Rovio will be expanding the Angry Birds franchise onto more platforms as the company announces collaborations with both Sony Playstation and hardware vendor Intel.
The netbook version of Angry Birds will be sold over Intel’s AppUp app store that is installed on many Netbooks. Angry Birds costs $9.99/£5.99/€7.99 to download on netbooks.
“We’re excited to offer Angry Birds through the Intel AppUp center,” says Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “Netbooks and consumer laptops are an untapped market for Angry Birds and a huge platform for casual gamers. Rovio looks forward to taking advantage of the innovative consolidated marketplace for PC apps Intel has provided.”
“We love Angry Birds. It’s one of our favorite games, so Intel is thrilled Rovio is bringing Angry Birds for the first time ever to netbooks and consumers laptops via AppUp.com” said Peter N. Biddle, general manager of the Intel AppUp center at Intel. “Intel is beyond excited to work with Rovio and deliver a version of Angry Birds that takes advantage of larger screens and faster processors. It’s gonna rock.”
Rovio has also launched Angry Birds as a Playstation Minis game, unleashing the birds on both Playstation 3 and the PSP. The game launched in the US today and will be available in Europe later this week. We hope it will be as fun with a controller as with a touch screen.
Meanwhile, Angry Birds did 50 million downloads and is well on track to reach the 100 million downloads predicted by Rovio.

A company called AliveCor has developed a new cover for iPhone and iPad that allows users to read out their ECG data in real time. The system is called AliveECG.
The cover transmits the EGC data wireless to the iPhone or iPad. The app that comes with it will provide detailed feedback to the user. The device will be on demo during the CES.
Today, details around Android’s roadmap surfaced on the internet as Google published a video about Android 3.0 and Dutch website Tweakers.net accidentally got handed a SonyEricsson Arc with Android 2.4 on it.
Reporters from Tweakers.net were promised a hands-on with the SonyEricsson Arc. The salesrep accidentally gave the reporters a model with an early build of Android 2.4 instead of the regular demo models.
The problem for the reporters was the UX interface SonyEricsson installed on the Android 2.4 interface. This makes it a bit unpredictable to see what is part of the OS and what is part of the UI. One of the features discovered is the possibility to switch on or off noise reduction. The noise reduction functionality is already found in 2.3 but wasn’t optional at that release. There is also a function for video chats. Probably for Google Talk. This is also to be seen in the Android 3.0 presentation.
With this leaking out, it is predictable Google will be having two branches of Android for now. 3.X for tablets and 2.X for smartphones though both are likely to be merged when the tablet version has matured.

The Viera Tablet runs Android and is meant to extend the TV experience by offering interactive services. It is also possible to stream video to the Viera Tablet and to use it as a remote control.

While all console sales in Japan have been in decline, one little piece of machinery managed to grow it’s market; the PSP. It managed to outsell all competitors (though we are not sure the iPhone was counted)
Sony sold 2.729.718 PSP’s versus 2.719.544 Nintendo DS units. Year-on-year, the number of PSP’s sold increased with 600.000 units while Nintendo sold 1 million less units of the Nintendo DS. These numbers show that localizing your Mini’s to Japanese might make sense.
Tags: Japan . PSP . SalesIn the first six weeks of launch, 1.5 million Windows Phone 7 devices have been shipped to retailers and operators (we assume most of them landed with consumers by now).
This number doesn’t sound that big if compared to the 300K daily Android activations, but keep in mind that the devices are not even globally available. Meanwhile the Windows marketplace holds 4.000 apps and the big European push will start in Q1 2011.

Engadget found out Skype is likely to be introducing video conferencing functionality in it’s upcoming iOS releases. The introduction of these functions bring direct competition to Apple’s FaceTime.
The functionality will be hardware dependent, meaning old iPod Touch/iPhone devices as well as the iPad will only support incoming videostreams. It will also be possible to switch between the available camera’s. Another important difference between FaceTime and Skype will be that Skype is not limited to Wi-Fi.
The official announcement is likely to take place at CES next month.
Tags: Apple . Facetime . iOS . iPad . iPhone . iPod Touch . SkypeTo cut an end to the rumours, Microsoft has started to publish details about the upcoming updates to Windows Phone 7. The only thing the company didn’t detail yet is when we can expect them.
The coming updates will bring (as expected) copy/paste functionality to the platform based on gestures. You tap the first word and swipe all additional text you like top select.
Improvements should also speep up apps. Right now apps are switched on and off as the OS doesn’t support multi-tasking. A horrific experience when you accidentally swipe over the Bing button while playing a game.
Microsoft will also update the search functionality of Windows Marketplace.
Tags: Microsoft . Update . Windows Phone 7According to research from AndroLib, Windows Phone marketplace now holds over 5.000 apps. The app store was launched earlier this year to facilitate the launch of Windows Phone 7 in October.
According to AndroLib, Android Market crossed 200.000 apps while iOS is around 300.000. They guess Android is doing 103 app downloads a second. That is 2.5 billion downloads since Android Market launched.
148Apps disagrees with AndroLib on the number of apps in the App Store. According to 148Apps, iOS passed 390.000 apps.
We expect this race to continue in 2011.

The iPad is a great gaming device, but its touchscreen-only method has ruined many a title, especially those action games that need precise controls. Because of this, I'm super excited about the Fling Game Controller, the first joystick for the iPad. As you might tell from the image, the portable thumbstick plops right on the screen and allows easy navigation.
You can preorder the Fling for $24.95 (or two for $38) from the Ten One Design site. It will be available by the end of the month, and I look forward to getting a test drive soon.

Samsung announced earlier that it expects to sell 10 million Galaxy S devices in 2010. As it seems right now, the company might manage to accomplish this milestone.
Reports say Samsung has sold 9.3 million units to date leaving over a week to sell 700.000 more of them world-wide. In Korea alone, they sold 2 million of them which is a record for the Korean market. If Samsung succeeds, they might have created the world’s best selling phone to date that doesn’t have an Apple printed on it.

The spike in downloads has also added 450.000 new users to OpenFeint’s database on Christmas Day. In total, 1.4 million new users were added in the four day period (up 88% year-on-year) and 5 million OpenFeint games had been downloaded.
“We always expect a spike in downloads over the holidays as more people put games on new mobile devices,” says Jason Citron, CEO of OpenFeint. “This year showed an impressive increase as our user acquisition increased almost twofold around Christmas. New devices and free time make for more mobile gaming over the holidays.”
“Heading into 2011, we expect our 55-million-strong user base to continue showing impressive growth as it has been,” says Peter Relan, chairman of OpenFeint. “We’ve grown six-fold since the beginning of last year and look forward to growing the largest mobile social gaming network.”

Movie games are usually too ambitious, but Disney's TRON: Legacy wins because it keeps things simple. Two great arcade experiences (light cycles and airborne shootouts) and lots of levels combined with a low price make it a fun homage to this week's TRON: Legacy movie.
